LIVINGSTONE CITY COUNCIL PUTS UP SOLAR POWERED BOREHOLES IN KASIYA

Livingstone City Council has completed the drilling of two solar powered boreholes in Kasiya ward at a cost of K600, 000 under the 2024 Constituency development fund allocation.

The boreholes are in two different locations, one in Natebe and the other one in Daka Munyama area.

The project was aimed at alleviating water challenges the people of Kasiya have been facing for a number of years, worsening the situation at the onset of the drought that hit Livingstone in the 2023/2024 rainy season.

The residents are happy that through CDF, a project of such a magnitude has been executed which will cater for their daily house use as well as providing water for their animals.

Lillian Siajoka, a resident of Natebe settlement expressed satisfaction on the project stating that the borehole would shorten the distance people cover in the area to access water adding that they are guaranteed of drinking clean and safe water un like the previous situation where they were  sharing water with animals in nearby streams which had also become dry.

Meanwhile, the Council has emphasized on the need for the residents to take care of the infrastructure that has been put up at a great cost in order for them to continue using the borehole as residents for a long period of time.
